A Vision for the Future of Attainable Homeownership in Longmont, CO

In Longmont, Colorado, an exciting new chapter in community-focused housing is being written. True North, a visionary real estate development, is the product of a collaborative effort between the City of Longmont, the Golden family and Vertikal, a private developer known for its innovative problem solving. Together, they’ve created something that speaks to the heart of the community—a model for affordable and attainable homeownership that is as inspiring as it is necessary.

The idea for True North emerged from a shared concern and a desire for change. The Golden family, residents of Longmont for five generations, recognized the growing challenge many families faced in securing a home they could afford.

The City of Longmont wanted to see a new approach to housing—one that didn’t just meet a need, but elevated the very concept of homeownership in the community. Vertikal was already exploring creative solutions for design-forward, attainable housing in the Front Range. They were invited to join the conversation, bringing their expertise in successful public/private real estate developments.

To make this vision a reality, the team decided to take an open-book approach to development. From the beginning, transparency and collaboration became the guiding principles, with all parties committed to sharing information and making decisions together. True North is the result of this unique collaboration—a community-oriented development that offers beautiful, design-forward homes that are attainable for families and individuals looking to put down roots in Longmont. By using innovative construction methods, smart design and public incentives, True North makes homeownership accessible to a broader range of people, helping to meet the demand for middle-market housing without compromising on quality or style.

But True North is about more than just building homes; it’s about building a community. The project reflects the shared values of those who worked to bring it to life—values of inclusivity, sustainability, and a commitment to creating spaces where people can thrive. It's about designing neighborhoods that promote connection and growth, where families thrive, neighbors help each other, and Longmont balances its history with future progress. True North isn’t just a housing development—it’s a new way forward.
